It was always important to me to know where my food comes from. I wanted to buy better — healthier, more local.
But I quickly discovered that it isn't accessible. To find truly good food, I had to search for hours — asking the right people, joining WhatsApp groups, searching on Google and Instagram.
And then it hit me: the problem isn't that there's no good food. The problem is that people don't know where to find it.
There are farmers selling fresh vegetables minutes from home. There's someone baking sourdough bread in the next neighborhood. There are small businesses with amazing products — that most people have never even heard of. So we keep buying at the supermarket — not because it's best, but because it's easiest.
And that's how Mehamakor was born. One place that gathers real, local, healthy food for you — close to home. Without searching for hours.

Our criteria
How we choose
Not everything labeled "natural" is actually natural, and not everything labeled "local" is actually local. We know that. That's why we go through every business before they join — asking, looking into things, and sometimes visiting in person. Here's what matters to us:
Proximity
We prefer businesses close to you, with the shortest possible chain — from the field to you.
Quality
Real ingredients you can recognize — no food coloring, no unnecessary preservatives, no artificial additives.
Safety
Clean preparation areas, proper storage, and compliance with the regulations relevant to the category. Some categories require a producer license in Israel, and we'll ask for it. No compromises here.
First steps
Worth knowing
Organic hens grow up outdoors, eating food free of pesticides and antibiotics. Their eggs contain more omega-3, vitamin E, and antioxidants. Not a dramatic difference — but less exposure to chemicals, and more humane lives for the hens.
At the supermarket — most cattle are fattened on corn and supplements. Grass-fed = cows that lived their whole lives in pasture, eating natural grass. In Israel it's rare and more expensive — but the meat has deeper flavor, the distinctive yellowish fat, and more omega-3. Producers like Gilis from the Golan Heights and Mireh Golan are classic examples.
Supermarket honey is pasteurized — heating destroys enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen. Unheated honey keeps it all — richer flavor, natural antibacterial properties. How to spot it? Thicker, not completely clear, sometimes crystallizes — and that's a good sign.
